Visiting Haddon Hall was like stepping back in time, this beautiful fortified country house dates back to the 11th century. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the old rooms and terraced gardens that overlook the river Wye, near Bakewell, Derbyshire.
As a photographer I was keen to capture some of what I saw and was careful to just take photographs without other visitors in the images. Indoors, wide aperture on a 'fast' prime lens, coupled with a high ISO setting, enabled me to take natural light shots, without the assistance of flash.
There's only a small selection of images here and as you can see I have duplicated many in black and white. To get a real flavour of the place I will be adding a video to this post in the near future.
Haddon Hall is steeped in history and is well worth a visit to learn more and see the wonderful rooms and gardens. There is an excellent cafe that is just outside the main entrance and I heartily recommend having a bite to eat as part of your visit...
