Back up to speed

Welcome to the weekly update. This is the first official one since creating this new blog.

For those that have followed along with my weekly progress via my Facebook page in the past, I'd just like to let you know (and everyone else) that updates, from now on, may be posted either Saturday or Sunday. I had been sticking rigidly to updating on a Sunday. However, this way I get more flexibility as I can't always determine what I'm doing at the weekend, so it's good for me.  It's going to be good for blog followers too, as I've no longer got an excuse for making very short posts due to time pressures, or just being too tired, etc.

Last week I finally got up to speed refreshing myself with the story of Belus. It's been a couple of months at least since I last looked at the manuscript because, as most of you know, I'd been preparing Dragon King and Olgrun ready for sale. This involved editing, more editing, and more editing, before the huge faff I had of getting the novels on the Kindle/Amazon platform. Well that's done now and both volumes are now available to read, just search, The Chronicles of Niru and I'm sure you'll find them; they're in eBook and paperback formats. I'm also considering making them available as hardbacks, although Amazon charge a hefty fee for making those and in turn this would make them quite expensive to buy. Having said that, hardback books are expensive regardless of where you get them...

I digress... back to Belus. The story so far has been left at the perfect place for a new chapter. It's clear that there will be several plot twists in this book and I now need a few days for my imagination to ferment on what I've written so far. As usual I'll be sitting to write twice next week and hopefully when I do get down to writing some more the next chapter will prove to be just as intoxicatingly captivating as the rest. I'm blowing my own trumpet again but I do have a vivid imagination and I usually surprise myself with what I come up with. Writers block seldom seems to last as I've found the key to the stories I write is allowing time to contemplate and reflect. Those days I don't write are not wasted, something happens in my subconscious mind, even when I'm not thinking about writing. This formula of doing a little, at least twice a week, hasn't let me down.

So far, I've written about Belus as a young boy. I've weaved a web of intrigue around him and his father, which also involves some interesting, and rather dark, new characters. This is where I have the opportunity to move on several years or continue with the future Dragon King as a child. I won't add any spoilers, it's just to let you know that, as with Olgrun, this novel adds depth to characters that were introduced in the first and second volumes.

I think that's it for now. Remember, from here on in updates will be posted any time during the weekend, this is no longer a Sunday gig, so to speak. For new followers the blog is a little like a diary entry, I add my thoughts and any news I have into these entries, to keep everyone updated and hopefully, just a little entertained.

Please spread the word, and thank you for joining me on this jouney...
