Forward ~ Dragon King

Forward, from the Dragon King...

I first began to type this story some eight years ago. It was a friend who once said that with my vivid imagination I should write a book, I guess that statement lodged itself in my head and so one day I decided I’d give it a go. I had no idea what would happen, whether it would be successful or not and only had a tiny premise, a mere twinkling of an idea that would form the basis of what was to be called, The White Dagger Of Albathon. Since then this little novel has been revised many times and now bears the title, Dragon King.

The story was initially self published in 2017 and despite a long period without any sales I decided that I hadn’t yet finished what I wanted to say. I’d created a world full of amazing things, characters were born and it was clear to me, at least, that I was far from done. I decided to tell my stories regardless of fame or fortune, to simply write for the reward of seeing my imagination come to life; I was doing it for myself.

It’s now February 2023, I’ve completed two novels and I’m currently working on a third, with at least one more to follow after that. If you’ve purchased this then you’re in for quite an adventure, and thank you for choosing to be a part of this journey.

When John Lennon wrote the lyrics of Beautiful Boy, he said, ‘Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.’ he wasn’t the first to use such a line. Those words can be traced to others before him, although it was John that probably brought notoriety to this now famous quotation. It’s one that I have used all my life and the creation of The Chronicles Of Niru is certainly a case in point.

I don’t particularly look forward to sitting to write but I always find myself drawn into my world to carry on telling the story, as if the characters are calling to me. This desire to continue, along with the reward from the creation of something tangible, is what motivates me. These books will be around long after I’m gone, and somehow I find that to be comforting. I will have left a little piece of myself behind, made a mark, so to speak, and I’m proud of that...
